Bronze Dust - Moving Cymbals

Bronze Dust more square web Collection V1.jpg

Just two old cymbals, but I played them in many different ways: different

sticks, hands, mallets, angles, and dynamics.

From this session came 12 distinct cymbal samples, designed to sit around your sound rather than on top of it, perfect for ambient layers, LoFi and minimal compositions.

On the keyboard, the layout is intentionally simple and musical:

• The blue keys the 12 original cymbal samples

• The three octaves below are detuned versions at –12, –24, and –36 semitones

• The first octave above is tuned +12 semitones

• The top octave features one cymbal stretched across the range, tuned over one and a half octaves for more abstract, airy gestures

All sounds are mapped across 5 octaves in total and can be shaped easily using the built-in HPF & LPF, and filter envelope, an amp envelope, a delay and a reverb, letting you move from barely-there shimmer to evolving metallic clouds.

The library is free, and I’d genuinely love to hear how you use it.

If it ends up in a track, a sketch, or a quiet late-night experiment let me know.

Sometimes less source material means more character.
